Demystifying Vastushastra: Clearing Fears and Misconceptions
As I embark on writing about Vastushastra, my goal is to empower a new generation of Vastu consultants who can practice with professionalism and clarity. I aim to dispel the fears and misconceptions surrounding Vastushastra, often perpetuated by traditional consultants who rely on threats and superstition.
The Lost Origins of Vastushastra
Despite its ancient roots, the original Vastu script has been lost to time. Modern texts are mere compilations, leaving Vastushastra vulnerable to misinterpretation. The Mayamatam, written between the 11th and 12th centuries, is a notable exception, offering a comprehensive and systematic exploration of Vastushastra.
The Need for Logical Answers
If Vastushastra is indeed a science, it must provide logical explanations for its tenets. Unfortunately, many Vastu gurus are unable to answer the fundamental question: “why?” They often rely on dogma and superstition, rather than scientific reasoning.
Applying Vastushastra in Modern Contexts
Sceptics may question the relevance of Vastushastra in urban settings, such as apartments or blocks of homes. However, I believe that Vastushastra can be adapted and applied in these contexts, with a deep understanding of its underlying principles and logical explanations.
